About visas to Poland. Statistically.

In a previous post I wrote about the types of visas and the differences between them. Staying in the topic, I decided to look more closely at the statistics related to the visas issued by Polish consulates.

Over the last six years the number of visas issued by Polish consulates grew by 70 percent (from 898 thousand in 2010 to more than 1,5 billion in 2015). The largest increase in the number of issued visas was recorded in 2011 – over 30 percent more than in the previous year, but the trend keeps growing steadily for at least six years.

Looking at the distribution of the visas issued in 2015 by country of origin, the vast majority of visas are being issued by consulates in Ukraine (almost 60 percent of the visas). The second in line is Belarus, then Russia. Other countries of the world issued approximately 10 percent of all visas to Poland in 2015. Since 2012 significantly increased the number of visas granted in Ukraine and Belarus, while in Russia this indicator is dropping.

Most visas were issued for the purpose of work (29 percent), in second place there was collective category so-called other reasons (including eg. family reunification, study), further were conducting business and tourism.

Cited statistics are part of the current trend of migration – both regarding the countries of origin and the purpose – most of the immigrants come from Ukraine in order to work.

At the same time, taking into account these trends, we can expect a further influx of workers from Eastern European countries.
